We were delighted to finish our elves this week. We have been working on them over a number of days as there was lots of cutting and sticking to do. We just loved adding the glitter, we did this part outside as we sure like to make it as glittery as possible and glitter can be very messy! We think they look great and we are so excited to start getting our classroom ready for our Christmas theme!

The Majestic Northern Lights was one of our new vocabulary words for our Arctic Theme. We learned three facts about the Northern Lights: You can only see them in the dark, they occur naturally with lots of different colours and you can’t see them in a big town or city. We thought it would be so cool to be able to go to the Arctic and get to see the Northern lights. We drew our own versions using chalk. They turned out so colourful!

We had our Anti-Bullying week early this month also. The theme was One Kind Word.  Children and staff were invited to wear odd socks to school on the Monday. Our class focused on how to be a good friend and we discussed lots of ways to show kindness to one another. We made a lovely craft ‘Be the Rainbow in Someone else’s Cloud’ and we drew a picture for it of a way that we can show kindness to others. We also learned the kindness song!!

We enjoyed our Science week activities this month. We completed two fun experiments, one using skittles to make a rainbow and the other experiment was called ‘Dancing Raisins’. It was fun predicting what we thought might happen, what actually happened was perhaps not as exciting as the predictions!! As part of science week we also participated in a live session hosted by Donegal County Library in which we listened to author Wenda Shurety’s read her story called ‘The Last Seaweed Pie’.

We had a super day at school dressed up in our costumes. There was lots of excitement in the classroom in the morning as we got to see each other all dressed up!! For our Oral Language time we created group spooky stories and performed the story for the rest of the class. We really enjoyed transforming our classroom into a cinema to watch the animated version of ‘Room on the broom’.
